Two of the letters are addressed to Smith, Huie, Alexander and Company, another merchant firm in Dumfries, Virginia. Other letters are addressed to George Gray, George Walker, and a man in New York. The letters discuss the shipment of goods, especially tobacco, and the ship the Ann.
